Miss Maryann Chibuike of Amaokwe village Amaokpala, in Orumba North Local Government Area, has been crowned Ada Amaokpala at the maiden edition of Amaokpala Beauty Pageant 2023.

 

The event was sponsored by Amaokpala in the Diaspora aimed at uniting, strengthening, improving social and mental wellbeing of the community members.

Miss Chibuike received the prize sum of Two hundred thousand Naira after she beat ten other contestants from the five villages in the community.

 

The event was a show of elegance, intelligence, inventiveness, and refinement.

According to the organizers, it was intended to empower females in the community and to build confidence and vibrancy among them.

 

The contest which lasted for hours saw Miss Ifunanya Molokwu of Umudike village as first runner up and Miss Chigozie Nwafor of Ajango village as the second runner up, and the two got one hundred thousand and fifty thousand naira respectively, while others received consolation prizes.

In her remark, Miss Chibuike, expressed gratitude to the organizers of Amaokpala Beauty Pageant 2023, her family, fellow contestants for playing a vital role in making her dreams come true, assuring to use her office to train and inspire young ladies in the community.

 

In their remarks, the Amaokpala Diaspora Committee Chairman for the Beauty Pageant, Prince Chidiebele Ikwueto, and a member of Amaokpala in the Diaspora, Mr. Izuchukwu Onuorah said the event was to assist the community enjoy the yuletide adding that through the competition, the contestants will acquire priceless benefits and life skill, such as gaining self-confidence, developing self-discipline, motivation and determination.

Prince Ikwueto said beauty pageants are platform for developing one’s exterior and inner character, urging the contestants to use the opportunity to develop into the strongest version of themselves and judiciously use the chances opened up for them.

 

The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Amaokpala Development Union, Mr. Jude Ezeudegbe, a Chieftain in the community, Chief Barnabas Nwafor and a member of the community, Mr. Uchenna Nwogu, said the show maintains high standards, urging the youths of the town to always showcase their talents.

 

Highlights of the event was a musical performance by some youths of the community.
