A group, Idinotu Ka Nma Peace Initiative has organized reconciliation service to settle strife between Nkerehi and Umuchukwu.
The initiative put together by youths from Nkerehi and Umuchukwu Town in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State who came together to end the seventeen years old conflict which led to loss of life of one of the sons of the community.
The event which took place at Onumajuru in the town, brought many indigenes from both divides which comprises five villages which include, Isiama, Umuana, Uhu, Umueze and Umualoma.
Speaking at the event, Venerable Ferguson Ezeokafor expressed joy with the move by the group to put an end to the long communal crisis between members of the village, stating that the importance of peace and love cannot be overemphasized in bringing rapid growth and development in any community.
He pleaded with the group to resolve all issues and never allow such ugly incident repeat itself in the future, stating that they must adopt sacrificing for one another as yardstick to bring about lasting peace and the much-needed development in the community.
Venerable Ezeokafor asked the people to adopt the spirit of forgiveness to leave a good legacy for their children instead of fighting and quarrelling and advised that such meetings be organized annually.
The Initiator of the peace and reconciliation process and the founder Idinotu ka mma initiative, Apostle Chinaza Akachukwu said that the move was one born out of prayers and revelation from God, while recounting series of failed attempts in the past to establish the initiative, praying that God will see them through as they continue to walk in peace and love.
According to a priest at Mbaukwu, Reverend Father Ignatius Onwuatuegwu, the strife has taken toll on the much needed and expected development in the community for close to two decades.
He advised the community to uphold the light that has been rekindled through cordial interaction to ensure lasting peace is sustained.
In his remark, the Chairman Idi Notu Kamma, Mr. Sunday Obi, expressed happiness and thanked God for making the peace process a reality and added that he is optimistic that God will perfect what he has begun in their community.
Climax of the event was special prayers, praise, dance and worship.
