Home Sample Football Club has won the 2022 Urum football tournament organized by the Urum Development Union, UDU, in collaboration with Urum Anike Youth Council Worldwide.

 

Home Sample FC won the opponent, Urum Development Union Awka Branch FC, in the grand finale of the tournament through a penalty shootout which ended 3:2 after playing 1:1 in full regulation time.

the Urum 2022 Football tournament which took place at Community Primary School field, Urum, Awka North Local Government Area, featured total of four football clubs which include Home Sample FC, Urum Development Union Awka Brach FC, Jamaican FC and Future Hope FC.

 

Addressing both the players and spectators shortly after the game, the President General of Urum Development Union, Chief Aloysius Tabansi, Chairman Urum Anike Youth Council Worldwide, Pastor Frank Chukwukeluo while describing football as the major unifier, said the tournament was organized to strengthen the spirit of love and unity amongst members of Urum community and entertain returnees in the community this festive season, promising to make the competition more interesting in subsequent years.

They used the opportunity to call on Professor Chukwuma Soludo led administration to come to the aid of Urum community in area of road infrastructure, as according to them, bad roads in the area are causing untold hardship on the people and limiting development of the area.

 

Also speaking sponsors of the game, Mr Chinedu Okafor and Mr Matthew Nwoye expressed happiness on the success of the event, promising to keep supporting anything that will help in uniting and developing Urum community , even as they called on state government through the ministry of sports to put in place measures to harness budding talents in rural communities.

The Chairman of the Urum Sports Committee, Mr Fidelis Arinze and a stakeholder in the area, Mr Chukwuemaka Ikwunne while commending all the teams that participated in the 2022 Urum football tournament for their spirit of sportsmanship, appreciated the President General of the town, Chief Tabansi and his executive members for organizing such an event which they observed had gone a long way in rekindling the spirit of brotherhood amongst people in the area.

 

In an interview, the Managing Director of Home Sample Football Club, Mr Christian Nwakeze whose team won in the competition, thanked God for giving them victory, and assured that his team will train more in order to win next tournaments both in the community and beyond.

 

The event climaxed with official handover of the tournament cup to the winner, Home Sample Football Club, by sponsors of the game, Messrs Okafor and Nwoye, in company of the President General of the town, Chief Tabansi, and youth chairman, Pastor Chukwukeluo.
