The reunion of Class 81 CKC Old Boys Association was a moment of reminiscences and reconnection for members who came from different strata of life after forty-two years they left school.

 

In an emotion laden sermon titled ” We Have Found The Messiah ” during a holy mass, which ushered in the event, Reverend Father Evaristus Obi , a member of Class 81 based in United States, spoke on the need for members to share their lives and opportunities with each other in this last part of their lives and be there for one another.

Reverend Father Obi who expressed gratitude to God for making it possible for them to meet after forty two years, said they received solid and impeccable formation under their late principal, late Reverend Father Nicholas Tagbo, and prayed for the repose of his soul, that of their members and teachers who have gone beyond.

 

The President of Class 81, Mr. Emeka Opah in a welcome address, recalled their days in the college, stressing that discipline is the key principle that stands products of CKC out.

Mr.Opah thanked members who joined the set, charged them to keep scouting and reaching out to classmates scattered all over the world and gave special recognition to late Senior Prefect of Class 81 ,Hugo Odiogor for initiating the reunion.

 

The Principal of Christ The King College, Onitsha, Reverend Father Arinze Okafor, who recounted the innovations and ongoing projects in the school geared towards positioning the school to take its pride of place in the country, said he has never seen old boys who have nostalgic experience attached to their alma mater like that of CKC old boys, and thanked class 81, for contributing to the school project.

Some members of Class 81 who took turn to speak including the set Deputy Senior Prefect, Dr. Vincent Amu, the local organizing committee chairman 2023 reunion, Chief Eugene Aghaebe, Professor Joseph Nwabanne of Engineering Department, COOU, Chief Ralph Ezeudu, Eric Umeh among others, reminisced about their memories from their school days, and expressed joy at the level of transformation in their alma mater and promised that they are going to come bigger next year.

Members of Class 81 were taken round the various projects in the school which sparked off another round of excitement from the old boys.

A minute silence was observed for departed members while thanksgiving, Presentation of two-million-naira cheque by the class 81 to the school principal, cutting of cake, dances and merriment climaxed the event.
