An illustrious son of Owerre-Ezukala in Orumba South Local Government Area, Chief Oliver Okolo has emerged as the new President-General of Owerre-Ezukala Development Union following a peaceful election held on the fourth January,2023 at the Ishishi Square Civic Center, Owerre-Ezukala.
According to the result of the election announced by the representative of the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Chief Ernest Obi, Chief Oliver Okolo won the post of President-General, Evangelist Pius Okeke, Secretary-General, Chief Okey Ajaebo Vice President, Dr. Samuel Izuegbu Treasurer, Prince Ezechukwu Ogbonnaya Financial Secretary and Barrister Sunday Ike, Legal Adviser.
Others are Mr. Emeka Nwankwo, Public Relations Officer, Mr. Edison Ifesi Provost 1, Mr. Uchenna Nwankwo Assistant Secretary and Mr. Chisom Madu Provost 2.
In his speech while declaring Chief Okolo as the President-General
Owerre-Ezukala Development Union, the Commissioner’s Representative, Chief Obi, described the Owerre-Ezukala Town Union Election as one of the most peaceful elections in the state, adding that the people of Owerre-Ezukala exhibited a high sense of maturity and unity during the election.
The new President-General elect, Chief Okolo in his acceptance speech, expressed gratitude to God and entire people of Owerre-Ezukala for finding him worthy to serve the community, assuring that he would in collaboration with his executive work hard in moving Owerre-Ezukala to greater heights.
Chief Okolo,an Oil and Gas Mogul, maintained that he would run a credible, transparent and development driven town union administration in Owerre-Ezukala and assured that the people of Owerre-Ezukala will continue to give maximum support to Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration
He commended the outgoing President-General, Sir Anayo Emejue and his team for their numerous achievements in the town especially in the areas of peace and various community developments and called on the indigens to support the new town union government under his watch to record more meaningful achievements in the town.
Also speaking, the outgoing President-General, Sir Anayo, thanked the people of Owerre-Ezukala and his team for their support to his administration which he said was the force behind all their achievements, while expressing happiness that the election ended in peace.
The Owerre-Ezukala town union election which was monitored by the team from the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Association of Anambra State Town Unions (ASATU) as well as security agencies, had in attendance the traditional ruler of the town, Igwe Thomas Ogbonnaya among other prominent sons of the town.
