Urunnebo Improvement Union, Lagos branch has launched a documentary on Ozom titled “Ozom – City of A Thousand Hills and Valleys” held at Urunnebo Improvement Union Hall Enugwu Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area.

 

The event attracted illustrious sons and daughters of Urunnebo both home and abroad, including members of Urunnebo Improvement Union, Lagos branch and their women wing led by its Chairperson Iyom Njideka Nwoyeocha.

The Chairman Urunnebo Improvement Union, Lagos branch, Barrister Norbert Ajaegbu and Chairperson women wing of the branch, Iyom Njideka Nwoyeocha threw more light on the origin of Urunnebo and its Ozom Igala Imenyi which is another name of the village from the ancient time.

 

They said they were moved by the fact that as the day goes by, their culture and rich heritage will be by gone so they felt the need to document them for future generations to enable them know their ancient civilization.

The grand patron Urunnebo Improvement Union, Lagos branch Chief Tony Okeke who said that the aim of the documentary is to make the history of the village afresh and to keep for the future generations know their great history, culture and tradition commended the Urunnebo Improvement Union, Lagos branch for organizing the event describing them as patriotic and great people that have contributed to the development of the village including installation of street lights.

 

In their separate remarks, the President-General of Urunnebo, Chief Leonard Okonkwo and the Chairman on the occasion Sir Jude Ekwunife represented by Ozomkpu Etomike Okeke-Aru who commended the organizers said Ozom City of one thousand hills and valleys is a documentary of a people telling their story for the world to know whom they are, where they came from and as well to raise fund for infrastructural development, human capacity building for youths.

The National Director Film and Video Censors Board, Alhaji Thomas Adidayo represented by the Co-ordinator of the Board, South-East Zone, Mr. Hilbert Udeh and a guest, Sir Chinedu Abana said that history is fundamental and it is important to have a documentary for training and reference on history of Ozom.

 

Others who spoke at the event including the Managing Director and Editor in Chief of Anambra Newspapers and Printing Corporation the Publishers of National Light Sir Chuka Nnabife gave kudos to Urunnebo Improvement Union Lagos branch for their contributions to the development of the village.

Presentation of the documentary, cultural dances by Igede and Ofuobi age grade cultural troops formed highlights of the event.
