A new Age Grade in Akpu in Orumba South Local Government Area, Aka Ji Aku age grade has made its first public appearance.

The group first appeared before the Traditional Ruler of Akpu, Igwe Marcel Okoli at his palace to receive the Royal blessing before proceeding to the village square where they were received by members of the community.

One of the prominent men in the community, the Chief Executive Officer of Agba Gold Foundation, Chief Emeka Agba is a member of the age grade.

Speaking to the ABS in an interview, Igwe Marcel Okoli said the age grade outing is an age long traditional practice in Igbo land, pointing out that every adult male of a community belongs to an age grade.

He advised them to toe the footsteps of those ahead of them while wishing them God’s wisdom and direction.

On his part, Chief Emeka Agba said as an age grade officially recognized by the community, they are expected to be actively involved in community development and other functions.

Chief Agba further prayed that the age grade will bring progress to the community.
