The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, said it has registered ninety-three million, four hundred and sixty-nine thousand, eight voters for the 2023 polls.
A breakdown of the total figure indicates that men constitute fifty-two-point five percent while women make up forty-seven-point five percent.
This was contained in the final list of registered voters released to political parties by the electoral body on Wednesday, at the commission’s headquarters at Abuja.
Lagos State topped the list with seven million, sixty thousand, one hundred and ninety-five registered voters followed by Kano with five million, nine hundred and twenty-one thousand, three hundred and seventy.
Meanwhile, the federal government has assured that the general elections will hold as scheduled next month.
The minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, gave the assurance at the 17th edition of President Muhammadu Buhari’s scorecard series from 2015-2023 at Abuja.
The minister’s assurance came in the wake of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC’s alarm that the 2023 polls could be postponed or cancelled if the growing wave of election-related insecurity across the country was not checked.
