It was a celebration of a life well spent; as the late Mr. Christian Okonkwo was laid to rest at his country home in Uruofolo village, Nri, Anoacha Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Before his death, Mr. Okonkwo was a devout Christian, and father-in-law to Mr. Jude Okoye, a staff of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS.
family members, relations, friends and well-wishers gathered at Okonkwo’s compound to bid the deceased farewell.
In a sermon during funeral service, the Vicar of Saint Michael and All Angel’s Anglican Church Nri, Reverend Nnamdi Ezeabasili, charged Christians to be steadfast and live good life so they are not found wanting on the last day.
He reminded Christians of the need to be mindful of their actions on earth, and to be ready for the return of the Lord at all times, describing the deceased as a man who lived good life worthy of emulation.
In their separate remarks, Mr. Okoye of the ABS, and his wife; who is the deceased’s first daughter, Mrs. Nkiru Okoye, said they will miss the deceased, whom they said lived a good life and was very welcoming.
Sister and brother to the deceased, Mrs. Adeline Oforkogu and Mr. Ruben Okonkwo, described the late Okonkwo as a good, peaceful and down-to-earth man, praying for his soul to rest in peace.
While appreciating all who came to commiserate with the family, Mr. Ikechukwu Okonkwo, said despite life challenges, his father left a legacy that would not be forgotten.
Condolence visits by relations, friends and well-wishers featured at the funeral ceremony of the late Mr. Christian Okonkwo, who died at the age of eighty-two.
