Anambra State Traditional Rulers have advised the general public to make out time for the collection of their Permanent Voter’s Cards as 2023 general elections draw closer.
The royal fathers gave the advice in an interview with journalists during the APGA campaign flag off at the Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka.
while speaking on the need, the traditional ruler of Umuoba Anam Community, Igwe George Ekwealor and his Umuona Community counterpart, Igwe Humphrey Ejesieme, said that as the elections draw nearer, Nigerians have yearned for security and economic stability, noting voting in a good leader, will address those challenges.
They reasoned that this could happen if prospective voters go to their wards to collect their PVCs which would enable them to vote for a change in the country’s narrative.
Other traditional rulers, who spoke to the ABS, including, Igwe Joseph Ajodo, of Ukwalla Kingdom, Igwe Joseph Alokwu of Nzam Community and their Urum Community counterpart, Igwe Benedict Nweke, explained that PVC enables citizens to be recognized as registered voters , pointing out that the voter’s card acknowledges the fact that a voter has been registered accordingly.
The royal fathers counseled against vote buying and selling or any inducement during the fourth coming polls.
They advised members of the public to take advantage of INEC’s extension of the deadline to go for their PVCs collection.
