Governor Chukwuma Soludo has drastically reduced the tax payable by commercial vehicle operators in the state.
The governor also approved that the payment be made on weekly basis instead of monthly.
As contained in the new rate, commercial motorcycle operators will now pay one thousand naira per week, Keke, two thousand, five-hundred-naira, shuttle, three-thousand-naira, mini truck, three thousand, seven hundred- and fifty-naira, mini bus three thousand, seven hundred and fifty naira and interstate bus, five thousand naira weekly.
This reduction is against the seven thousand, five hundred naira, fifteen, thousand naira, twenty thousand naira, and twenty-five thousand naira, paid previously by Okada riders, Keke, shuttle, mini bus, mini truck operators respectively.
The governor in his speech, assured of simplified and progressive tax system to avoid multiple taxation and over burden on Ndi Anambra.
He noted that the government is working on a comprehensive tax reform that will be technology driven where everyone will be taxed accordingly.
Noting that the meeting was a follow up to the earlier meeting held with transporters on January ten, 2023, Governor Soludo assured that his government will be a listening one and will continue to work to improve the welfare of the people.
The Governor, who emphasized that he knows what the transporters are going through as a result of the state of the roads reassured of working hard achieve a livable and prosperous Anambra State.
The Chairman Anambra State Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Richard Maduebo in an opening remark said that the objective of the government is to make Anambra State better for businesses to thrive.
The operators rejoiced to the development and promised greater cooperation and commitment to a better Anambra State.
