The late Dr. Anthony Obiagboso Enukeme would have been 79 years old today January 21, 2023.

Born on the 21st January, 1944, to the family of Chief and Mrs. Eyisi Anyabolu of Umudioka, Neni, Anaocha local government area, Anambra State, Dr. Enukeme started from the scratch before he rose to prominence in his business career.

 

 

 

In view of his business prowess, he was quick to establish Tonimas Nigeria Limited in 1981 and the following year, 1982, incorporated the company with its headquarters in Aba, Abia State. The company has branches all over Nigeria and in the Sub-aharan African. Today, Tonimas Nigeria Limited, has become a household name. As a result of its quality products, Tonimas has received the Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) Certificate. It has also received numerous awards. While as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Tonimas Nigeria Limited, Dr Enukeme gave Tonimas Nigeria Limited a very solid foundation on which the new management are building on in order to sustain his legacies of late in the day to day administration and management of the company.

 

 

 

Late Dr. Enukeme, Enyi-Abịa, Anya-Anaocha, Onowu Neni, Ezeani Akuvom, olds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Administration and a Master Degree in Political Science. Dr Enukeme died on 9th June, 2020 and was buried on 14th August, 2020.

 

 

 

He was a man of vision, characterized by selfless service. For instance, Dr Enukeme used his resources to singlehandedly tar all the feeder roads in his Neni community, with drainages to enhance their durability. He gave scholarships to thousands irrespective of tribe, religion or ethnic affiliations. Many people were to the height of stardom in business, giving them financial muscle to stand on their own. Till today, Dr Enukeme remains indelible in the minds of many.

 

 

 

 

 

On the religious sphere, late Dr. Enukeme built a place of worship at Saint James Catholic Church, Neni, his country home. He also replicated the same feat at Saint Agatha Catholic Church, Umuarakpa, Aba. For all these and more, he was made a papal Knight of St. Gregory the Great. He was, of course, an exemplary Christian worthy of emulation. Dr. Enukeme was also a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International.

 

 

 

On the political arena, Late Dr. Enukeme was a pillar of support to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the Government of Anambra State.

 

 

 

He was the founder and pioneer President, Anambra State Council of Traditional Prime Ministers (Ndi Onowu) and also a one time President of the Lubricant Producers Association of Nigeria (LUPAN). He received an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Business Administration from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University for his dexterity in business and philanthropy. He also received a community service award from the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), following a serious partnership with the state media outfit since 1999.

 

 

 

As we remember him today, his philanthropic work and service to humanity, we urge the Anambra State Government to seek ways of immortalizing the late Dr. Anthony Enukeme by naming one major public institution or road after him in view of his contributions to the development of Anambra State.

 

 

 

Already, the Anambra State Council of traditional Prime Ministers Ndi-Onowu Anambra State has concluded arrangements to commence an annual memorial lecture series in his honour of the beginning from the 10th of February 2023.

 

 

 

Continue to rest in peace Onowu Neni, father, father figure and associate to many, till we meet to part no more.
