The remains of retired Colonel Linus Ohanehi, the Onowu Ihiala have been laid to rest at the deceased Noble Castle of Peace residence, Umuezeogu Village-Eziani Ihiala.
The burial mass of retired Colonel Ohanehi, aged, eighty-nine years, who was also a member of Knight of Saint John’s International was presided over by the Emeritus Bishop of Nnewi Catholic Diocese, Most Reverend Hillary Odilichukwu Okeke.
Bishop Okeke during the Mass, charged people to shun evil and live a holy life in order to be at peace with God, reminding them of the inevitability of death and enjoined the family of the deceased to stand firm in prayer.
In a sermon, Very Reverend Father Basil Agba, noted the pain of losing a father, describing retired Colonel Ohanehi as a good man who contributed immensely to the growth of Catholic church and a member of Holy Ghost Vocation Movement where he contributed to training of priests, calling on christians to always be prepared at all times to meet their creator at the appointed time.
For the children of retired Colonel Ohanehi, including his first son, Ogbogu Ohanehi, second and last daughters, Ifeoma Azikiwe, Oluchi Ohanehi and niece, Mrs Eucheria Ilozuruike, their father was a symbol of peace, a disciplinarian, a loving and caring father and an achiever, whose exist left a big vacuum in their family, promising to hold onto his legacies.
In their condolence messages, the traditional prime ministers of Oraukwu and Ubuluisiuzo, Chief Patrick Onyeduba and Onowu Mbanaso, recalled the deceased’s good deeds, advised his family to take heart and consolidate on their father’s legacies.
Correspondent, Oggorchukwu Oranu reports that the burial ceremony attracted people from various spheres of life including war veterans, the religious, Anambra State traditional Prime Ministers, Traditional ruler of Ihiala ancient kingdom, Igwe Thomas Obidiegwu and his cabinet, members of Knight of Saint John International, among others.
Condolences by in-laws, friends, groups, Catholic Men Organisation of Saint Mary Mother of God Parish, Eziani, and performances by musical groups featured during the burial.
