The Chairman Anambra State Physical Planning Board, Barrister Chike Mmaduekwe has called on all professionals in building to come together and fight quackery in the industry.
Barrister Mmaduekwe made the call when he played host to members of Nigeria Institute of Building who called on him at his office in Awka.
Barrister Mmaduekwe said the synergy is necessary so that they can sanitize and optimise operations of the builders towards delivering successful, quality buildings that would stand the test of time.
He said that to achieve Governor Soludo’s vision of giving Ndi Anambra a liveable, prosperous and green homeland, traditional rulers, Presidents General and all stakeholders should sensitize their people on the need to get approval before embarking on any building project.
The group also visited the Managing Director, Awka Capital Territory Development Agency, Mr Osy Onuko, where they held closed door meeting with members of Nigeria Institute of Building.
Mr Onuko while receiving the group said they are ready to work with any profession who will support and improve the aesthetic looks of Awka capital city and help to put an end to building collapse in the state.
Mr Onuko charged them to ensure quality assurance in building projects in the state as the professionals known for quality.
The former National President, Nigeria Institute of Building, Builder Kenneth Nnabuife-Nduka and Secretary of the association Mr Ikenna Okpala said that the advocacy visit was part of plans to fight quackery adding that they will effect the idea through their Performance Monitoring Team, after the advocacy visit as was the vision of the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria, the body charged with licensing practice of building in Nigeria.
They said they will soon organise a workshop to train builders on building management procedures by improving the knowledge of those who give approvals to building construction.
Also, the Chairman Builders in Private Practice, Mr Chijioke Okeke said that they embarked on the visit to help actualize Governor Soludo’s mantra of achieving a liveable, prosperous homeland for all, which he said they must actualize through hard work.
