The National Governing Body of Inner Wheel Clubs in Nigeria has held its thirty-sixth national conference tagged “Obodouzu 2023″.
The event, which took place at the ASUU Secretariat, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, had rotarians, past Board Directors, past National Representatives, National Governing Body members and members of the club in attendance.
Declaring the conference open, the National Representative, Inner Wheel Clubs in Nigeria, Mrs Ezimma Nnabuife, noted that with the theme: “Work Wonders”, the club members are charged to make a difference across board in solving problems facing the world today, beginning with their various families, even as she called for financial support of members in order to extend help to the downtrodden and the less-privileged in the society.
A past Board Director, Mrs Sally Unam, who spoke on “Etiquette and Comportment,” said that as an organization of reputable women; with the responsibility of raising their own and others’ children, it is important for members of the club to imbibe good etiquette and comportment in order to remain role models in the society.
In another lecture, a resource person, Mrs Zainab Ikheloa, noted that International Inner Wheel Clubs is the largest women’s voluntary service organisation in the world, with presence in one hundred and four countries, and with representatives in the United Nations.
She noted that the objectives of the non-governmental, non-religious and non-political organisation include promoting true friendship, encouraging the idea of personal service and fostering understanding.
Award presentation to distinguished personalities, including the wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu, the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Mrs Uche Ekwunife, among others, featured at the event.
