Efforts to enthrone quality leadership at the grassroots; in order to achieve the desired transformation, which will metamorphose into higher spheres of leadership in the future formed the crux of a one-day summit organised for secondary school prefects in Awka, the Anambra State capital.

 

The leadership summit, which was powered by FutureHolds True Value-Impact Foundation, has as its theme, “Maximize This Opportunity”, and featured classroom management training for some teachers.

Future Holds True Value-Impact Foundation is a non-governmental organization founded with the mandate to undertake the task of building and developing human resources, and focused on mental and all-round capacity building projects and programs, as well as empowering young people.

 

Addressing the participants, the Executive Director of the foundation, Mrs. Ncheta Chidubem-Nwachinemere, said the summit aimed at correcting early the damage of bad leadership, which she said is evidently manifesting in the country today, cutting across all sectors of government and human development.

She maintained that FutureHolds True Value-Impact Foundation wants to raise new set of leaders that will enforce the desired restructuring and transformation that is globally pursued, and to help the students understand that any position one occupies is an opportunity to be maximized.

 

Exposing the teachers to the topic, “Classroom Control”, the Educational Secretary, Anglican Diocese of Awka, Reverend Augustine Otiji, explained that the work of a teacher is vocational, which they will carry out with humility, bearing in mind that the life of future generations is in their hands.

He called on the teachers to create good rapport with students so as to have confidence in them, even as he enjoined the teachers to render their services accordingly; without minding the difficulties encountered, as God will reward them greatly.

 

Also lending his voice, Evangelist Nnamdi Ezeh encouraged the teachers to nurture the pupils under their care, reminding them that teaching job is a service of conscience, which they should carry out with sincerity and fear of God and sincerity.

In his remark, the Director of Administration, FutureHolds True Value-Impact Foundation, Mr. Godfrey Nwachinemere, stated that school perfects are expect to have a new lifestyle that is built with standard and positivity, as well as know that leadership is a responsibility that enables one make influence, outstanding marks and end all negative vices while they handle fellow students with love.

 

Some of the students, including Paul Chimuanya,Lovet Igwe and Obinna Odumegwu, who bared their minds on what they learnt at the summit, such as right attitudes towards fellow students and how to aim high with good behavior, thanked the organizers and promised to lead by example at all times.
