Holy Child Secondary School, Isuofia is a first-class co-educational school owned and managed by the Catholic Diocese of Ekwulobia. It was established in 1996 by Very Fr. Anthony Akabogu as a continuation of Holy Child Nursery and Primary School, Isuofia founded in 1990 by Very Rev. Fr. John Ugochukwu, the then Parish Priest of St. Patrick’s Catholic Parish, Isuofia. Today, after over 25 years, the school which is renowned for adequate training of the students in discipline and academic excellence as the motto of the school reflects, has become one of the leading schools in Nigeria. The school currently has 62 qualified teachers, who employ modern pedagogical methods and audio-visual aids to teach.

 

The Management, Staff and Students of Holy Child Secondary School, Isuofia are pleased to have reached this milestone. It is a testament to hard work, tenacity and dedication. In spite of her policy of zero tolerance to examination malpractice, the school has recorded excellent performances in external examinations such as Basic Education Certification Examination, BECE, Senior Secondary Certification Examination of the National Examination Council, NECO, West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination, WASSCE and the Universal Tertiary Martruculation Examination, UTME. She has won a lot of awards and laurels in several national, local or diocesan competitions such as Mathematics and Science Olympiads, Cowbell, MAN & STAN competitions. Little wonder why the school was shortlisted for a presidential award in 2021 as one of the best secondary schools in Nigeria. Recently, in 2022, Nelson Okafor (the school’s best graduating student) who scored 340 in UTME and distinction in all nine subjects in WASSCE emerged the Best Science Student in Anambra State and 13th in Nigeria.

 

One unique feature of Holy Child Secondary School, Isuofia is that she has a robust entrepreneurial/skill acquisition scheme which enables her students to acquire at

 

least one skill in the course of their secondary education. The scheme has various departments which include cosmetology, bead making, arts and craft, confectionaries; computer Graphics; Jet Club and Young Farmers’ Club. For this extraordinary initiative, the school was awarded the Best School in Entrepreneurial/skill acquisition in Anambra State in 2022 by the Anambra State Government. The school also has a poultry farm with over 1000 birds, a piggery and a fishery farm

 

The 25th Anniversary Celebration will feature Pastoral Visit and Administration of Sacrament of Confirmation by His Eminence, Peter Ebere Cardinal Okpaleke (The Catholic Bishop of Ekwulobia); Laying of Foundation Stone and Fundraising for the completion of the School Chapel; Raffle Draw and various forms of entertainment. Eminent dignitaries like Mr Governor , Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, the Executive Governor of Anambra State (The School’s Special benefactor who has been paying the WAEC and JAMB fees of the students for the past 6 years); Chief (Dr.) P. A. Okonkwor Ojih Isuofia CEO – (Pokobros W. A. Ltd – the School Chief Benefactor) and many others will be guests at the occasion. It shall be a home-coming for about 2000 alumni members comprising a lengthy list of enterprising undergraduates in many leading tertiary institutions in Nigeria and abroad and a growing list of professionals in all spheres of life.
