Anambra State through the ministry of Economic Planning and Budget has organized a thank you rally to appreciate the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration for empowering thousands of Ndi Anambra through the National Social Investment Programme.

The event held at Njikoka Local Government Area Headquarters Abagana, attracted selected beneficiaries of the National Social Investment Programme from across the state, officials of the state Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, officials of the state Cash Transfer Unit, among others.

The Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mrs Chiamaka Nnake said that the event was to appreciate the Buhari government for the programme and enlighten Ndi Anambra on the need to get involved in such programme which is aimed at alleviating the sufferings of Nigerians.

She commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for various efforts his administration is making daily to ensure that Anambra state is not left out in any largesse coming from the federal government, and assured Ndi Anambra that their rights will not be denied under the watch of the present governor of the state.

On their parts, the state Head, Cash Transfer Unit, Mr Rapheal Enukorah, and Special Assistant to the Governor on Partnership Coordination, Lady Ogochukwu Orji while thanking President Buhari, Governor Soludo and Mrs Nnake on their efforts in making the scheme a reality in the state, noted that the poverty alleviation programme has gone a long way in redefining Nigerian government and bettering the lives of the citizens.

The Transition Committee Chairman for Njikoka Local Government Area, Mr Clem Aguiyi who regretted that people from the Southeast feel reluctant to access grants and other interventions meant for Nigerians by the federal government, said it was high time people from the zone, especially Ndi Anambra applied for the federal government’s packages for the citizens whenever it is announced, in order to always benefit like people from other zones of the country.

Some of the beneficiaries, including Mrs Ifeoma Ojukwu, Mrs Peace Oli, and Mrs Ngozi Atunalu thanked both the State and federal governments for the gesture which they said has transformed their lives, employed and made them owners of petty businesses.

The National Social Investment Programme which cuts across Job Creation and Youth Empowerment popularly known as N-Power, National Home-Grown School Feeding, National Cash Transfer Unit, and Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme, has been in Anambra state and other parts of the country since 2016.
