The need to vote in competent candidates with the interest of the masses at heart was the highpoint of a political debate organized by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Anambra state council in collaboration with the National Link chapel of the union.
The debate was held at Nnewi North council area.
It was an issue based debate where Senator Ifeanyi Uba, a candidate of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, for Anambra South Senatorial district, and Honorable Nonso Smart -Okafor, of the All Progressive Congress, running for Nnewi North and South Federal constituency reeled out areas where they have provided quality representation to their constituents, convincing them on the need to vote for them come February twenty five, 2023.
Senator Ifeanyi Uba who said that he belonged to thirty different committees in the Senate, listed areas of intervention he has worked on to include intervention in health sector across the seven local government areas in his senatorial district, attraction of road infrastructure in his constituency, creation of employment for youths especially in the area of sports among others and assured that he is working seriously to improve the security architecture of the area to arrest insecurity.
According to Senator Uba, all the senators in Anambra state are working harmoniously even as he said that Governor Chukwuma Soludo held a meeting with them towards the development of the state.
While presenting his manifesto, the member representing Nnewi North constituency at the State House of Assembly, honorable Nonso Smart -Okafor called for assessment of individuals and not political parties, adding that capacity and competence should be the watch words when considering candidates for any elective position.
Honorable Okafor noted that he has been a man of the people and has touched the needy in many ways, including building houses for the childless and widows in his constituency and maintained that he will work on improving electricity if elected to boost production, job creation and economic growth of the state and the county at large.
