The Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG, in charge of South East, Mr. John Amadi, has warned criminal elements in the state to steer clear of the polling units and the state or face serious consequences .

 

Addressing the press at the Command Headquarters, DIG Amadi, who was accompanied by the newly deployed Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG, Zone 13, Friday Eboka, Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Echeng Echeng, three Police Commissioners deployed to man the three senatorial districts in the state during the elections, and other police chiefs, expressed satisfaction with the security preparedness ahead of the elections.

He explained that the command has done threat assessment of the major flash points in the state and fortified the areas with well-trained personnel, whom he said are combat-ready to ensure the success of the 2023 elections.

 

According to him, as the DIG in charge of the South East, he is at alert twenty-four hours to provide moral, intelligence and advice to the rank and file of the police, and pointed out that South East states are integral parts of Nigeria.

Mr. Amadi asked residents of the state not to be bothered by non-state actors who are deceiving themselves that there will not be election in the state, stated categorically that Nigeria Police Force will ensure that election is free, fair and credible.

 

He asked the Divisional Police Officers and Area Commanders in the state to stick to the plans and remain committed to directives given to them, adding that anyone found wanting will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
