The Anambra State Chairman of the Joint National Association of Persons With Disabilities, JONAPWD, Comrade Ugochukwu Okeke, has said that with assurance of adequate security arrangement for members, and Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, having trained them on how to use the ballot paper, they will participate actively in the 2023 general elections scheduled to start tomorrow.

 

Speaking with ABS Correspondent, Joseph Egbeocha in Awka, Comrade Ugochukwu explained that mobilization for JONAPWD members to register for Permanent Voters Card started since last general elections, and resulted in about eighty percent of them having their PVCs.

 

He said that with the active participation of JONAPWD members in the elections, they will help in addressing marginalization and other issues affecting them.

 

While commending the Soludo administration for ensuring that their members are part of the five thousand teachers recruited in the state, the Anambra JONAPWD Chairman called on relevant stakeholders to put more efforts in addressing other issues affecting their members, such as ensuring that public infrastructure are made accessible to persons with disabilities.

 

Contributing, the state Publicity Secretary of JONAPWD, Chidinma Ajemba, commended INEC for making the elections all-inclusive, and urged the commission and security agencies to give priority and special attention to members on election days.
