Anambra state Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for improved services to Nigerians in the discharge of the electoral duties.
Dr Ibezim made the commendation shortly after casting his vote in his Polling unit 016, Central School 1, Mbaukwu, Awka South Local Government Area.
Deputy Governor Ibezim who rated INEC based on its performance in polling units across Mbaukwu community, adjudged this year’s accreditation and voting processes seamless, and expressed hope that people’s vote will count.
He asked the INEC not to disappoint the people’s trust in them.
Some stakeholders in Mbaukwu who spoke to the ABS during the exercise including Prince Nestor Ebede, Mr Chukwunonso Dim, and Dr Daniel Ejie appreciated the federal government and INEC for ensuring safe and peaceful election this time, asking INEC to do the needful by allowing the will of the people to prevail in announcement of the winners after the elections for peace and progress of the Nigerian nation.
For Mr Odirah Eze, Mrs Pauline Amahe, and Mr Izuchukwu Uchendu, voter education and sensitization really reflected in the number of persons that participated in the Saturday’s election, as according to them, there is huge turnout of voters this time, even as they observed that the present cashless policy in Nigeria also helped people to exercise their franchise without mortgaging their votes.
The polling units visited by the ABS during the exercise including, Nkwo Mbaukwu 001, 002, 003, 004, and Akabor village Mbaukwu polling units 018, 019, and 020, voting was going on smoothly and peacefully, as security agents including Police, Department of State Security, DSS, and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, were seen monitoring the exercise to make sure it was hitch-free.
