Positive measures are in top gear to ensure that standards, quality output, sound educational background and morals are instilled in the life of the younger generation.
These formed the basis of a one-day review round- table meeting of School Managers of Schools returned to Catholic Church for Awka and Nnewi Dioceses.
The meeting aimed at looking at the loopholes, challenges, problems being encountered in these schools and ways of ensuring that they are at par with others in standards, conducive environment, good learning skills and materials, quality teachers and many others and was championed by Matina Chinyere Enidom Foundation.
While analyzing the mission which they embarked on in supporting all round education of the younger generation, the Chairman of Matina Chinyere Enidom Foundation, Engineer Paul Enidom said sound education is the ideal and as such, the foundation partners the church in promoting quality education.
Engineer Enidom stated that knowing that church and government cannot do it alone, they engaged the priests in a cluster to find out the challenges of the schools and areas of collaboration.
The Education Secretary, Catholic Diocese of Awka, Reverend Father Maximus Okonkwo in his speech maintained that their partnership with the government is moving gradually but they needed more hands in all the schools, more materials for teaching and learning, infrastructure and most importantly teachers, while commending Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the recent recruitment of five thousand teachers in the State.
Also, for the Nnewi Educational Secretary, Reverend Father Stanislaus Ojimba, they are being faced with low standards of education, lack of perimeter fencing in most schools and above all, the issue of insecurity as according to him, non-State actors have taken over everywhere, pleading with the government to address the issue of lack of teachers because according to him , they make use of PTA teachers as palliative.
