Governor Chukwuma Soludo has called on Ndi Igbo to always promote Igbo language and culture in their areas to enable their people locate and identify with them.

Governor Soludo made the call at Ukpo, Dunukofia Local Government Area, during the foundation stone laying ceremony for Ukpo Cultural Museum Center.

Represented by the state Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Entertainment, Comrade Don Onyenji, the Governor said that part of his manifesto talks about resurrection, promotion and projection of core Igbo values, and commended people of Ukpo community for the project, which he noted would help advance their culture.

He called on every community in the state to provide land for the development of leisure center to help boost tourism and the economy of the areas .

 

On his part, the project consultant, Engineer Uzo Onyia, said the museum would have areas for display of artifacts, sculptures, arts of the ancient Ukpo history and restaurant where Igbo dishes will be served, as well as an E-library where people can access information.

He said such project is supported by the United Nations under the sustainable development goal; with the aim of preserving the culture of the people.

 

The Archbishop, Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim led in the foundation stone laying ceremony.
