The former Senior Special Assistant to former Governor Willie Obiano on Legislative Matters, Chief Edozie Ezeugwa, has called for proper training of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, staff engaged in election duty for improved service delivery.

Political Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that Ezeugwa made the call while reacting to the conduct of the 2023 general election by INEC.

He noted that accreditation of voters and voting commenced very late in polling unit zero-zero-two at Nanka ward where he voted, and INEC staff who worked in the area didn’t come with ink pad, but the people of the area provided it for them, which resulted in late commencement of the exercise.

Chief Ezeugwa however appreciated eligible voters that participated in the exercise for their patience and massive turn out, urging INEC to respect the people’s choice by allowing their votes to count.

He wondered why INEC did not upload the original results of the presidential election conducted last Saturday into the commission’s server as they promised before the election, whereas the results of the national assembly election were uploaded.

Chief Ezeugwa maintained it is only through credible election devoid of electoral fraud that good leaders could emerge, and urged the electoral umpire to retrace steps in the interest of the country.
