Anambra State Police Command has assured safety of the electorate
before, during and after today’s election.
Correspondent, Joseph Egbeocha reports that speaking on police
preparations and interservice cooperation and deployment for the state
House of Assembly election, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police
in charge of elections Mr, Aderemi Adeoye, called on the public to
assist the police in ensuring smooth conduct of the exercise by
abiding by the police directives, as well as giving timely information
on happenings within the state.
He announced nationwide restriction of movement from midnight of
yesterday till six o’clock in the evening today, as directed by the
Inspector General of Police, adding that only security vehicles and
that of essential service providers will be allowed.
Mr Adeyemi, who was flanked by other senior police officers deployed
for the election, warned that non-state actors and vigilant groups are
excluded from participating in the exercise, adding that sanctions
will follow non-compliance.
