The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has been urged not to compromise results of the Governorship and House of Assembly elections across Nigeria.

 

Some voters made the appeal while speaking to newsmen in Awka North and South Local Government Areas.

 

Correspondent, Emmanuel Chigbata reports that at Amawbia ward two, polling units 001 one of the voters , Mrs Jessy Nwokoye, who commended INEC for the peaceful conduct of the election and improvement of the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System Machine, pleaded with the commission to ensure that their votes count by not compromising the election results for the good of Nigeria.

 

Another voter, Mr. Leonard Ihesinuno said the election was well organized when compared to the presidential election and commended INEC for the improvement.

 

When ABS team visited Ebenebe and Amansea axis at about 12.noon, it observed a hitch-free conduct of the exercise and noted that most of the voters have already voted and waiting patiently for the votes to be counted .

 

The team also observed the presence of security personnel patrolling in their vehicles to maintain law and order.

 

In separate reactions, Mr. Romanus Okoye who voted at Ebenebe Ward One, Polling units 003 and Mrs Ifeoma Okoye at Okeukwa Healthcare Ward One Amansea Polling Unit 011 expressed worry on the low turnout of the electorate, but described the process as free and fair.
