To stem the tide of unemployment and its effects on the society, youths have been advised to consider acquiring one or two skills before pursuing further education in higher institutions of learning.

The Parish Priest of St. Peter’s Anglican Church Enugwu-Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area, Reverend Ifeanyichukwu Okoli, gave the advice at the church during the 2023 Mothering Sunday.

Reverend Okoli, who however noted that the place of prayer cannot be overemphasized in addressing various societal challenges, urged parents, especially mothers, to redouble efforts at bettering the society through proper child upbringing.

Speaking on the theme, “You shall eat the fruit of your labour”, Reverend Okoli, who emphasized that nothing can be more frustrating for a woman than to see efforts in training her children come to nothing, reminded mothers who labour for their husbands and children that their labour in the Lord is not in vain, insisting that no cross, no crown.

Contributing, wife of the Parish Priest, Mrs Ozioma Okoli, reechoed the call on mothers to be role models to the young ones, reminding them that society is a reflection of the family.

Chairperson of the 2023 Mothering Sunday celebration of the church, Mrs Nneka Ibeamaka, said the annual event reminds parents, especially mothers, of the need to redouble efforts at child upbringing, calling on the young ones to eschew conducts that do not add values to their lives and the society in general.

Special prayers were offered for the church and the society during the church service.
