The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has been commended for the recorded in the conduct of House of Assembly election in Anambra state.

 

Such commendations came from stakeholders who took part in the election as they all said that INEC materials as well as personnel arrived various polling units on or before seven o’clock in the morning on the election day.

 

 

Speaking at Obosi town hall, with three polling units and also collation center for Obosi, the Anambra state Commissioner for Works, Engineer Ifeanyi Okoma, said that the election started by eight o’clock in most polling units which he said is a plus for INEC.

 

According to Engineer Okoma, the election in Obosi inland town was peaceful but they recorded problems at Obosi Urban where APGA party agents were attacked, regretting that hoodlums denied some people their rights to vote.

 

On his part, the Transition Committee Chairman for Idemili North Council area, Mr Chuks-Brown Igboanua, acknowledged that the election was peaceful in the council area and thanked INEC for coming out on time.

 

At Amatutu, ward two, Agulu, polling unit, a former Managing Director, Anambra state Waste Management Agency, ASWAMA, Mrs Njideka Oraedum who is also the APGA candidate for Anaocha one constituency, also applauded INEC for getting it right this time around, adding that the BVAs machine worked like magic which she said, enabled as many that came out to vote to perform their franchise.

 

All the respondents said the election was marred by apathy as recorded in most places in Anambra.
