Governor Chukwuma Soludo has felicitated with West African Examination Council, WAEC, as it commemorates its seventy-first anniversary.

 

Governor Soludo, represented by the state Commissioner of Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, during an event to commemorate the day at WAEC Office, Awka Headquarters, Nise, described WAEC as a household name, a tradition handed down from generation to generation.

 

According to Governor Soludo, WAEC is a laudable initiative put in place to move academics in West African forward adding that the organization has never failed in this drive.

 

He expressed the view that WAEC brought the full weight of their law to bear on students caught in examination malpractice than flagging the entire school for an offense committed by a few students.

 

Earlier, the branch controller, WAEC Awka, Mr. Uduakpan, appreciated the overwhelming support of council stakeholders, especially Governor Soludo, and his unwavering support to education and the fight against examination malpractice in the state.

 

Mr. Uduakpan however disclosed that West African Examination Council Day, is an annual event that is celebrated on March sixteen every year.

 

The seventy-first anniversary climaxed with was fun-filled activities and debate competition between St Patrick’s College, Awka, and Loretto Special Science School, Adazi Nnukwu.
