The Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor, has charged women to be alive to their responsibilities especially in the area of child nursing and upbringing in order to enthrone a God fearing and decent society.
Speaking at Saint Peters Parish Akpo, Aguata Local Government Area, during a special service to mark the 2023 Mothering Sunday of the Anglican Communion Worldwide, Bishop Ezeofor, who frowned at some mothers that delegate their family responsibilities to their house helps, reminded them of the negative consequences of such act.
He stressed the need for mothers to always be a role model to both their children and larger society, reminding them of the need to maintain their pride and dignity as the mirror of their families.
Bishop Ezeofor, who is also the national chairman, Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion, used the opportunity to advise mothers to always monitor the kind of company their children keep and regretted the high rate of idolatry among youths charging Christian parents and ministers of God to rise up to the challenge.
In a remark, the president of Aguata Diocesan Women’s Ministry, Mrs. Chinyere Ezeofor, who traced the history of Mothering Sunday, urged women to always respect and be submissive to their husbands.
She charged them not to be deterred by series of challenges facing Nigeria reminding them of the need to anchor their faith in God in order to overcome life challenges.
Earlier in a sermon, a guest preacher, Venerable Samuel Anowai, advised women to always be peace makers.
Venerable Anowai asked mothers to always have equal love and care for their children in order to build a progressive, decent and God-fearing family.
The service, conducted by the wife of the vicar of Saint Peters Parish Akpo, Mrs. Maureen Durunna, featured series of prayers for families, those in leadership positions and special anthem by the women.
