The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra State Water Resources Management and Urban Water Supply Asset Holdings Corporation, Honourable Ikeobi Ejiofor, has warned people against encroaching on public water facilities land at Onitsha or face the full wrath of the law.

 

Honourable Ejiofor gave the warning when he toured facilities at the Greater Onitsha Water Scheme, Nkisi Headworks and Water Board Government House, GRA Onitsha, in company of some staff of the corporation and members of the Anambra State Physical Planning Board.

The tour was aimed at inspecting the present condition of the facilities and identifying areas of intervention following the state government’s plans to partner investors to rehabilitate, operate and manage the schemes.

 

Speaking after inspecting the facility, Honourable Ejiofor, observed that some people have indiscriminately encroached on the land while vandals have destroyed some key equipment.

He expressed worry on the present condition of the water schemes due to lack of proper management and the activities of vandals , who found their way into the premises.

 

Honourable Ejiofor called on relevant ministries, agencies and stakeholders to join hands with him to stop the encroachers and put their activities to a halt in order to rehabilitate the water schemes for the benefit of the people of the state.

He maintained that one of the key agenda of the present administration is to provide portable water to Ndi Anambra adding that the Greater Onitsha Water Scheme, when efficiently utilized and revitalized, will serve half a million people in Onitsha and environs.

Urging Ndi Anambra to say something whenever they see something going wrong, Honourable Ejiofor stated that the present administration is concerned about the plight of the masses and would continue to provide conducive environment for them and investors.
