COOUTH CMD, Akabuike Receives Award From FISA

The Chief Medical Director, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka Dr. Joe Akabuike has urged Igbo youths to always champion good conduct and utilize their entrepreneurial skills to attain full potential in life.

 

Dr. Akabuike was speaking while receiving an award of “Beacon of hope to Igbo Students as vanguard of Medical Transformation in Anambra state”, from the Federation of Igbo Students (FISA) at the hospital’s premises Awka.

The Federation of Igbo Students is an umbrella body of all indigenous Igbo students from the five South East states and Igbo speaking communities who are living and schooling in Nigeria.

 

It is a forum where the youths meet to dialogue on issues affecting them as well as supporting themselves academically, financially and politically.

Handing over the award to Dr. Akabuike, the National President of the Association, Mr. Godwin Chukwunonso said that the award is in recognition of the CMD’s immense contributions towards human capital development, meritorious service to people of Anambra state, youths and student’s empowerment, peace and unity, and as well service to God and humanity.

 

Mr. Chukwunonso said that Dr. Akabuike’s administrative prudence, policy implementation, love for Ndigbo endeared him to them and urged other people to emulate him in the task of rebuilding the Igbo nation.

Receiving the award, Dr. Akabuike whose numerous achievements both as a former Commissioner for health and now as the CMD of the hospital among others, have been read in his citation, thanked them for finding him worthy for the award, but said that he always wants his achievements to speak for him rather than awards.

 

He explained that he received the award from the organization because of the good objectives they have towards building bridges of friendship and being a pool of Nation builders across the Igbo land, urging them to shun all forms of social vices to become better people in future.

In a vote of thanks, the Chairman, Medical Advisory Council of the hospital, Dr. Emmanuel Mbah also thanked the group for the honour done to their CMD and advised them to always work for the collective interest of Igbo youths.
