Yesterday’s monthly sanitation exercise recorded huge success in Dunukofia Local government area as residents of the area participated actively in the sanitation exercise in compliance with the directive of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

 

the exercise which was led by the Transition Committee Chairman of Dunukofia Local government area, Mr. Augustine Onyemaobi commenced at Afor-Igwe market along the old Enugu-Onitsha road where the Local government chairman joined the traders at the market to clean up the drainages around it.

The local government council provided big trucks that evacuated waste generated from the market and streets to dump sites in the area.

 

 

Some motorists who disobeyed the sanitation law by doing their legitimate business during the sanitation period were stopped by the local government sanitation enforcement team and forced to join in the exercise.

Speaking to the ABS, the Transition Committee Chairman of the council area, Mr. Onyemaobi explained that the exercise is in line with the, “Operation Clean and Sustainable Environment for Developmental Purposes in Anambra State”, which was flagged off on Friday by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

 

Mr. Onyemaobi maintained that he is determined to achieve a clean, green and sustainable Dunukofia in line with the Governor’s vision for Anambra State saying that he is working towards setting up an Ad-hoc Waste Management Committee for the Local government to achieve the objective.

At Ifitedunu junction, residents of the area participated in the sanitation as they cleaned up their surroundings, while deviants were stopped by the Traditional Ruler of the town, Dr. Emeka Ilouno who enforced it along side his team.

 

In an interview, Dr. Ilouno commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his efforts to ensure that Anambra is ever clean and green.

He urged the people of Ifitedunu to always obey the sanitation law of the state and keep their surroundings clean for their own benefit
