Anambra State Chairman of Radio and Television Theatre and Arts Workers Union, RATTAWU, Comrade Maureen-Stone Enujoke, has stressed the need for cooperation amongst members to achieve the vision and objectives of the union and protect the interest of members.
Speaking in Awka during a meeting of the union, Comrade Enujoke said that the challenges facing members of the union could be easily addressed through harmonization and collective approach, and advised members to remain committed to efficient service delivery in their various departments to build a stronger workforce.
Also speaking, the state Treasurer, Comrade Macdons Afamefuna of Purity FM Chapter, stressed the need to safeguard the collective interest of members and called for proper planning of courtesy visits and organization of special programmes to raise fund and work out modalities to attend to the needs of members.
In his speech, the public relations officer of the ABS Chapter of the union, Comrade Obiajulu Sokei, used the opportunity to read out major benefits inherent for members of the union.
Contributing, one of the new members, Comrade Obum Okonkwo, applauded the chapter executive for its works and emphasized the need to promote the core value of the union to gain more attention and attract more members, adding that regular campaigns and sensitization programmes should be initiated and encouraged to project the good objectives of the union.
He called on both the chapter and the state executive council of the union to take the welfare of members seriously including working towards better remuneration for members in various organizations.
For the vice chairman of the chapter, Comrade Chidinma Oranwa, members should be encouraged to be proud of the union and promised that the chapter will work assiduously to carry everybody along, while urging members to take the challenge of attending meetings regularly serious.
Other important issues challenging the growth and progress of the union in the state were raised and suggestions made.
