In line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration initiative of a Clean,Green and Sustainable Environment, the Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili North Local Government Area, Honourable Chuksbrown Igboanua has kicked off operation open your drainage system in the area.
The Chairman who led Transition Committee members, Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs Rita Chike Obuekwe , other Management team, Environmental Health Officers and Security Agencies to Afor Nkpor Market, Nkpor Junction and Oye-olisa Market Axis along Old Road Ogidi, said that the exercise is to ensure that water flows freely anytime it rains.
Honourable Igboanua encouraged business owners and residents of the Local Government to open up their blocked drainage channels and assured them that the council area will evacuate any waste removed from the drainage systems.
The Council Chairman said that Governor Soludo is determined to ensure a habitable and serene enviroment, through the initiative geared towards rebuilding the Anambra ecosystem.
At Oye-olisa Market, Honourable Igboanua who demonstrated exemplary leadership by evacuating the refuse, admonished the people to stop trading on the drainage systems and imbibe a culture of clean environment by ensuring that their drainage systems are clean at all times.
He equally assured that the exercise will be continuous to ensure sustainability and warned that the Council will deal decisively with environmental defaulters.
The Idemili North Mayor equally appealed to Ndi Idemili North to support and own the project, as the outcome of the clean, green and sustainable environment will be beneficial to everybody.
He commended Governor Soludo for touching all sectors of the economy within his short period in office, adding that if Ndi Anambra own and sustain the initiative, soonest, Anambra will become the cleanest state in Nigeria, devoid of many erosion sites.
