Today across the globe is World Health Day.

Observed every year on April seven by the World Health Organisation, WHO, World Health Day is celebrated to spread awareness about both physical and mental health that can help improve lifestyle for a happy life and reminding people that health is the biggest asset.

The special day was established in 1948 by WHO to bring the world together towards a common goal, leading a healthy life and to promote health and wellness as a significant component of life.

The 2023 World Health Day, which has its theme as “Health Equity, Health for All”, is observed to educate people, spread awareness about health issues, new medicines, research and ensure healthcare facilities are accessible to everyone, everywhere.

Speaking on the day, the chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Anambra State Council, Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, enjoined Anambra State Residents to take advantage of the ongoing clean-up exercise across the twenty-one council areas initiated by the Soludo Administration to clean their environments for a healthier society.

Dr. Odogwu, who identifiedunequal distribution of healthcare resources as one of the key challenges in achieving global health equity, frowned that many low- and middle-income countries lack adequate healthcare infrastructure, including hospitals, clinics, and medical personnel hence leading to limited access to healthcare services, especially for people living in rural or remote areas.

He however made it clear that it is the responsibility of every individual to take care of their health and understand the changes in their lifestyles and food habits.
