Anambra State Government has warned against building and trading on water channels.

 

The Managing Director, Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade, Comrade Celestine Anere, gave the warning when he led officials of the agency to a decongestion exercise at Zik Avenue, Ochanja Market and Minaj Junction, Obosi, among others.

 

 

Speaking at each of the locations, Comrade Anere said gone are the days when traders and developers erect structures and trade on roadsides and water ways, pointing out that the Soludo’s administration is committed to ensuring that the right thing is done at all times.

 

He commended the diligent staff of the Brigade and other security agencies on their efforts to rid the state of illegal revenue collectors while emphasizing that they are committed to flushing out trading on roadsides and water ways.

 

Comrade Anere ordered traders to move into approved markets in the state.

 

During the drive, they also apprehended five suspected illegal revenue collectors, who allegedly harass traders and motorist conveying goods and services around the metropolis.

 

The suspects confessed to collecting tax and remitting same to unnamed persons.
