The Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha, Most Reverend Dr Valerian Okeke has Urged Christians to see Suffering and Challenges in live as part of life and the Cross one must carry.

 

Archbishop Okeke who gave the charge during this year’s Chrism Mass held at the, Basilica of Most Holy Trinity Onitsha emphasized on the need for constant Prayers from Christians in order to overcome the challenges.

 

It attracted many dignitaries including the State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, represented by Secretary to the State Government, Prof Solo Chukwulobelu, the Labour Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, the traditional rural of Onitsha, Obi Alfred Achebe, Chief Valentine Ozigbo among other dignitaries.

 

In a homily, Archbishop Okeke who spoke on, “Suffering in the Life of a Christian and Powers of Prayer” maintained that suffering has been an ever-present challenge for every aspect of human life on earth, which Christians should overcome through faith.

 

Archbishop Okeke further stated that human suffering is a very complicated reality which is deep rooted in every -day experience of man, and called for constant prayers and absolute faith in God.

 

In a remark, the Chancellor of Onitsha Archdiocese, Very Reverend Father Prudentus Aroh, who expressed satisfaction with the turnout of the faithful , urged them to always endure in any tribulation, and see any suffering in their lives as a challenge which calls for strong faith.

In their separate comments, the Parish Priests of St Theresa’s Catholic Church Awada, Father Paul Ifedi and St Marks Umueri, Father Fidelis Chiefe, said it is a special time as it brings Priests in a diocese together to renew their faith in God and pray together with the Faithful as one body and urged the faithful to double their faith in God, especially in times of suffering.
