The Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Professor Charles Esimone has called on well to do citizens in the society to invest more in education system, for all round development and progress of the nation.

 

Professor Esimone made the call at Unizik Business School in Awka, during the groundbreaking ceremony of the school new ultramodern building.

the Unizik Business School new ultramodern edifice is a project being sponsored by a philanthropist , Chief Ikenna Okafor who donated the sum of one hundred million naira for the project.

 

Professor Esimone who described education as key for sustainable development, pointed out that it is high time people in this part of the world emulate developed countries like America, China, and others who built their development on education, noting that if education system will receive the needed attention and support in Nigeria, there will be total turnaround in all sectors of the country’s economy.

The Unizik Vice Chancellor, Esimone thanked Chief Okafor for all his support to the institution especially the sponsoring of the ultramodern Unizik Business School building which he said will redefine the school and also go a long way in giving it more global recognition, even as he called on other well to do individuals and groups to come to the aid of the university.

In their various remarks, the Director Unizik Business School, Professor Emma Okoye and the Deputy Director of the school, Professor Chinedu Onyizugbe while appreciating Chief Okafor for the kind gesture, explained that students in the business school are faced with classroom challenge as they have continued to multiply numerically, hence the need for the new structure which according to them will cost at least seven hundred million naira.

On his part, the Philanthropist and board member of the Unizik Business School, Chief Ikenna Okafor said he is moved to continuously invest in education because of his love and belief in the system, and stated that he is sponsoring the Unizik Business School because of his quest to make the school the best across the globe, promising to keep supporting the institution.
