It was a moment of great sorrow during the burial of the late Chief Anthony Chukwuemeka Anumba and Wife Bertha at Awka-Etiti in Idemili South Local Government Area, as relations and friends paid their last respects to the departed couple.

According to Mr. Victor Anumba, the son of the departed, he lost his father earlier last December and while arrangements were being made for his burial, his mother died in February, which he said was really painful.

 

At a funeral mass held at Holy Family Catholic Church Awka-Etiti, which had several priests and religious in attendance, Reverend Father Gerald Ononaiwu in his homily said that death is inevitable for all mortals and it is imperative that Christians make best of their time on earth to serve God and humanity noting that the late Chief Anthony and wife served the Church and Community meritoriously.

Mrs Ada Ngini, daughter of the deceased explained that her parents were patriotic, empathic and held life values in high esteem while Mr Uche Ngini an in-law, described the late Chief Anthony and Wife as wonderful people with whom he had a fruitful relationship.

 

A brother to the late Chief Anthony, Dr. Raphael Anumba and a sister, Mrs. Justina Eze described him as a family man who was after the uplifting and growth of family and community.

The late Chief Anthony Anumba died at the age of eighty-three, while his wife died at eighty-one.
