Although death is a necessary end for all mortals, yet it leaves much grief on its trails. No doubt, the demise of the late Ezinna Godwin Obijeke Nwafor Oliobi, mayor of the Catholic Men’s Organization, CMO, Saint Theresa’s Catholic Parish, Umueze, Isuofia leaves much grief on his immediate family, friends, in-laws, groups and organizations. No pen can write, no tongue can tell this sad and painful loss.

 

Ezinna Oliobi, popularly known as ‘Ezelue’ was born in 1939 to the family of Oliobi Ezeamenahu of Ndiume Kindred Umueze – Isuofia in Aguata L.G.A. He was the third child of his parents’ four children. His beloved parents were renowned farmers thus instilling in him the virtues of discipline and hardwork early in life.

 

Obijeke started his primary school education at St Patrick’s R.C.M Isuofia in 1950. After getting his First School Leaving Certificate in 1955, he was employed as an Auxiliary teacher at primary School, Isiaku Isuofia, due to his exceptional excellent results. In 1956, he was transferred to Ikemee R.C.M Okpoko Isuofia also as an Auxiliary teacher. After his short teaching career, he followed his elder brother, the late Romanus Oliobi to Port Harcourt. While in Port Harcourt, he gained admission to Stella Maris College, Port Harcout in 1956. Upon completing his secondary school in 1962, he received an appointment into Ministry of Agriculture in Eastern region and was employed as Agricultural Demonstrator in 1963.

 

While working as an Agricultural Demonstrator in charge of Ogidi/Umuoji region, he took steps to further his studies, obtaining his West African Examination Secondary School Certificate in 1972. From there, he proceeded to the College of Agriculture, Igbariam where he received his Ordinary and Higher National Diplomas in General Agriculture in 1986.

 

After his reinstatement following his study leave at the College of Agriculture Igbariam, he was promoted to Higher Agricultural superintendent in 1987. In course of his working careers in the Ministry of Agriculture, he was a very trusted and reliable officer.

 

 

 

 

 

The late Mr Obijeke Oliobi met his heartthrob, Ezimma Justina Oliobi (Nee Nzelu) of Dimboko, Umuoji, a highly devoted Christian, during the heat of the Nigeria civil war in 1968. They wedded on 6th July, 1968 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Ekwulobia now St Joseph’s Catholic Cathedral. Ekwulobia.

 

Ezelue was also a lovable community leader whose imprints are indelible in the hearts of many Ndi Anambra, old Eastern Region and the society in general. His huge developmental contribution to the church earned him the prestigious religious title of “mayor of CMO”. He was Secretary General, Ndiume Kindred, Umueze, Isuofia from 1959 –2006; Pioneer Secretary General, Igwebuike Age Grade, Umueze, Isuofia; Secretary General emeritus, Obineri Umueze Isuofia; Secretary General emeritus, Umueze Isuofia; Secretary General Isuofia Star Club, former Awka Branch and Chairman Emeritus, St Theresa’s Catholic Parish, Umueze, Isuofia.

 

His village unanimously endorsed him to be elected as the Secretary of Isuofia Progressive Union, IPU now Isuofia Peoples Assembly in 1997.

 

His burial arrangement is as follows: Today, Thursday, April 20, 2023, vigil mass holds at his compound in Umueze, Isuofia by 5pm. Tomorrow, Friday, April 21, 2023, a burial mass will be held at the same venue. Interment and condolence visits will follow afterwards.
