The Chairman, Post Primary Schools Service Commission, PPSSC, Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu, has charged principals to raise the standards of schools in Anambra State.
Professor Ikediugwu gave the charge during the management meeting and interactive session of PPSSC and school Principals held at Mater Amabilis secondary school, Umuoji.
The PPSSC chairman urged the principals to inculcate good virtues in the students by forming rules and ensuring that they abide by them, adding that the rules would work out if the principals create conducive atmosphere for both the teachers and students to raise the standards of the schools.
Professor Ikediugwu tasked both the old and new principals to monitor school activities always and not to sit and do paper work in their offices, resolve conflicts as soon as they arise and introduce end of term activities.
The education boss further charged them to create time for PTA meetings, allow teachers and students to be part of their administration as well as dress well to school.
The Member-in-charge of Awka Zone, Dr Uchenna Okeke in her paper presentation on Management of Information and Education Management Information System, EMIS, encouraged the principals to make use of smartphones to create school platforms for information dissemination.
She said EMIS is needed for services like collecting, storing, processing, analyzing and disseminating information.
Dr Ernest Chukwuka, member-in-charge of Nnewi zone, presented a paper on beautification of schools and environmental sanitation while Secretary PPSSC, Mrs Benedine Anagor, spoke on Rules and regulations in public service and the Public Relations Officer, PPSSC, Mrs Ngozi Muo, spoke on Protocol.
The event had in attendance Directors and Heads of Autonomous units of PPSSC, Zonal Directors of Education, School Principals, Managers, Chaplains among others.
