The newly matriculated students of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Uli, Igbariam and Uli Campuses, respectively, have been enjoined to avoid distractions that may lead them away from the goal of their university education.

 

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Greg Nwakoby made the plea during the twenty fourth matriculation ceremony, held in all faculties of the university campuses.

 

the Anambra Broadcasting Service captured the matriculation of the Faculty of Physical Sciences at the University auditorium in Uli Campus, where the students dressed in varying colours of matriculation gowns sworn the oath administered by the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Kingsley Nwozor.

 

The Vice Chancellor’s address to the matriculated students, read by the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Nwozor reminded them that their purpose in university is to learn and graduate in record time and to achieve the purpose, they should work hard and pass with good grades.

Congratulating the students, Professor Nwakoby warned them against indulging in cultism, examination malpractice, violent demonstration as well as to avoid bad companies as according to him it will ruin their career in the university and future.

 

 

In a remark, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics, Professor Osita Chiaghanam, urged the students to be of good behavior, both in character and learning, shun indiscipline, as well as read and digest the student’s handbook to get acquainted with the dos and don’ts of the university.

During the event witnessed by parents, friends and well-wishers, Professor Nwozor formally admitted them to the membership of the university after the Heads of Departments presented the students to him, while he advised mthem to live up to the expectations of the university as pledged in their matriculation vow.

 

Some of the newly matriculated students, including Mr. Ikechukwu Michael of Computer Science Department, Miss Sylvia Mbaka of Industrial Physics Department and Mr. Somto Okeke of Geology department, said they were very excited and pledged to study hard.
