Anambra State Coordinator, Joint Enforcement Team, ANJET, Air Vice Marshal Ben Chiobi retired, has refuted claims by some Keke drivers in the state, who alleged that some members of the team are cultists and touts that divert government revenue.
Air Vice Marshal Chiobi, who spoke through ANJET’s Director of Operations, Mazi Chukwuma Okpalezeukwu, noted that members of ANJET are responsible people, who work within the ambit of the law and their code of conducts, and stated that they do their job diligently at all times, with records and results to show for it.
He maintained that some disgruntled Keke drivers, who engage in crime and other social vices are not happy with ANJET’s zero tolerance for touting, and are bent on discrediting the outfit, and urged Ndi Anambra to disregard any negative news or story about ANJET on social media or any other source.
He regretted the story credited to one Osita Obi, who claimed to be the leader of Keke drivers, and made it clear that their members do not engage in revenue collection as this process has been digitized by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
Air Vice Marshall Chiobi noted that ANJET was created to meet the enforcement needs of Ministries, Departments and Agencies in Anambra State, and that their activities facilitate the maintenance of sanity and discipline, while ensuring that touts and those diverting government revenue are apprehended and prosecuted.
The ANJET Coordinator affirmed that ANJET will continue to live up to its responsibility without fear, favour or intimidation from anybody or group of persons and called on Ndi Anambra to rally round the Soludo Administration.
He noted that since the creation of ANJET, they have arrested many touts and illegal revenue collectors across the state and handed them over to security agencies for prosecution, and urged the citizenry to ignore all the malicious posts made by mischief makers parading as members of the Anambra Keke Drivers Forum.
Air Vice Marshall Chiobi, assured Ndi Anambra and other residents of the state of the commitment of ANJET under his watch to tame touting and other forms of criminality, noting that ANJET will continue to monitor all flashpoints where touts and illegal revenue collectors operate, such as Onitsha, Ogidi, Nkpor, Obosi, Awka, Nnewi, Okpoko and other locations.
