In line with the Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration’s zeal for improved use of communication technology devices , distribution of over two hundred computers have been inaugurated in Anambra State.
The first phase of the exercise across Ministries, Departments and Agencies as well as government appointees, will improve the use of e-mails and other tools and softwares in the day to day running of government activities.
The over two hundred computers were equipped with modern digital tools.
Speaking on behalf of the Governor, the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu recalled that the policy began about three years ago when the former administration set up an Information Communication Technology ICT, Agency
He stated that across the world, people interact easily with the use of technology and asked the agency to continue the next stage of training of civil servants on use of technology and commence digitization of documents to make work easier.
Also speaking, the State Head of Service, Barrister Theodora Igwegbe said the initiative is one of the pillars of digitization of the service, pointing out that the commencement of the distribution is a bold step by the Governor.
Earlier, the Managing Director of the Information Communication Technology Agency, Mr. Fred Agbata noted that it is a milestone for Anambra State government under Governor Soludo, for which the Information Communication Technology Agency is at the forefront.
He explained that they conducted a baseline survey of the situation across Ministries, Departments and Agencies and discovered a civil service that has a total of three hundred and six computers which is not ideal.
Commissioners, Special Advisers and other members of the State executive council, civil servants, among others, attended the event which was held at the Government House, Awka.
