The Press Secretary to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Mr Christian Aburime has reassured of Governor’s support to journalists in the state as they discharge their duties professionally.

 

Mr Aburime gave the assurance at the monthly Congress of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, N.U.J, Anambra State Chapter in Awka.

 

Mr Aburime who said that Governor Soludo is very passionate about the safety and well-being of journalists assured that the present government will continue to support and accord the Media its due recognition in the discharge of its constitutional functions.

 

While emphasizing that the media is a critical stakeholder in building a decent, peaceful and secured society, Mr Aburime called for objectivity and fairness in news reportage.

 

He enjoined them to continue to support Governor Soludo’s administration through objective and balanced reportage and also harped on the need to eradicate false information and fake news in view of its negative effect on the society.

 

The Press Secretary also enjoined them to imbibe the spirit of development journalism, geared towards building a progressive Anambra State.

 

Mr Aburime, thanked them for their support and encouraged them not to relent in their efforts in revitalizing the society for better through their activities .

 

On his part, the Chairman of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Chief Chuks Ilozue thanked the Press Secretary for his time, support, concern and encouragement and emphasized the need for the Governor to have a chat with Journalists in the State which according to him will improve relationship and synergy.
