Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Health has pledged to join hands with the management of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka to achieve modification of the hospital.
The Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Carter Umeoduagu gave the assurance when the committee visited the hospital to perform their oversight responsibility.
Dr. Umeoduagu applauded the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Joe Akabuike for repositioning the Teaching Hospital administratively and infrastructurally and appealed to the Executive Arm of government to release funds to the management of the lifesaving institution for modification of the hospital.
The lawmaker called on Ndi Anambra to maximize the modern equipment available in the hospital to meet their health needs.
Addressing the Committee, the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Akabuike revealed that he had cleared backlog of promotions due to the hospital’s staff, completed and inaugurated Mother and Child Referral Centre, re-accredited residency training programme for pediatrics, secured accreditation for her internal medicine for residency training.
Dr. Akabuike further listed his achievements to include the construction of Consultants Lounge as a means of ensuring that consultants are always within the hospital premises, building and equipment of the dialysis unit and training of renal nurses in the use of the equipment like the mammography machines and the CT scan among others.
