The Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, ASHIA, has taken free health insurance registration to motor parks to register commercial vehicle drivers who have paid their mandatory monthly taxes and levies to the Anambra state government.
Speaking during the registration exercise, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of (ASHIA), Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi who said that the payment of the taxes and levies make them eligible to benefit from the free premium given to them by governor Chukwuma Soludo, appealed to commercial motorcycle and bus drivers, tricycle riders and others to come and register to benefit from all the packages offered by the Agency, as the Soludo administration in his magnanimity offered the drivers free health insurance so far the person has paid the statutory monthly driving permit in the state.
Dr. Onyemaechi who said that the outcome of their serial engagements with leaders of the driver’s unions led to the commencement of the registration exercise, said that the beneficiary can access quality healthcare from accredited facilities across the state.
The ASHIA boss thanked Governor Soludo for the kind gesture which he said is first of its kind by any state Government in Nigeria and assure Ndi Anambra and residents of the state that ASHIA is delivering innovative ways of managing the enrollee-health facility managers relationship.
The Regina Caeli Park in Awka, one of the beneficiaries, Mr. Sunday Nwankwo thanked the Anambra state government for the benevolence and commended ASHIA for a seamless exercise.
