Members of the prestigious “Tornado Club” have converged at Abacha town, Idemili North Local Government Area, for their 2023 annual convention.

The convention attracted members of the club from different parts of the country to reunite as old friends and deliberated on matters of national importance.

The convention kicked off with an opening address by the President of the club, Chief Ndukwe Duroha, who welcomed members to the event and set the tone for the discussions to come.

The keynote speaker for the day, Mr. Richard Agu, who delivered a paper titled “Akuruoulo, Ohaneze, and Igbo Governors: Time for a Paradigm Shift,”, noted that the concept of Akuruoulo has been made imperative by the events surrounding the Nigerian Biafra War when Igbo multimillionaires, entrepreneurs, and elites were forced to flee for their lives from various parts of the country, leaving behind their businesses and investments, and that recent events have shown the need for Ndi Igbo to bring their wealth home.

He emphasized the need for Ohaneze Ndigbo to reassert its status as an independent and selfless institution that unifies Ndigbo, and he also urged the Igbo governors to be true sons of the land, working for the people so as to create an investment-friendly climate.

After the presentation, the members shared their thoughts on the topic on how Ndigbo can overcome the various challenges facing them and take advantage of the opportunities that abound.

Speaking in an interview, the host of this year’s convention, Chief Emeka Okelo, expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the convention, stating that the convention provided a platform for members to network and exchange ideas on how to move the country forward.

Highlight of the convention was a courtesy visit to the traditional ruler of Abacha, Igwe Godwin Odiegwu, and members of his cabinet, who received them at his palace and commended them for their contributions to the development of the country.
